About

The Building Research Association of New Zealand, whose five-hectare campus at Judgeford north of Wellington holds the country’s fire testing laboratory alongside its structural, durability and exposure facilities. The fire laboratory is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by International Accreditation New Zealand, and its results establish the Fire Resistance Ratings and Fire Resistance Levels required by both the New Zealand and Australian building codes — it is recognised by NATA in Australia and registered as a testing authority under the National Construction Code, and BRANZ puts the acceptance of its reports at 68 economies. It also runs bushfire testing, a regime that barely exists in the northern-hemisphere laboratories in this category. Its appraisal and CodeMark certificates are the evidence this directory’s New Zealand fire-door and passive-protection files were built from.
