An independent practice specialising solely in fire safety and fire engineering — fire-engineered safety strategies, fire-safety design and management, and specifications for suppression, detection and alarm systems — independent of any manufacturer or installer. It also has a substantial expert-witness practice: Colin Todd has prepared expert reports in over 100 cases involving prosecutions, appeals against notices and determinations by the Secretary of State under the Fire Safety Order, was a Crown expert witness in the Fatal Accident Inquiry into 14 deaths, advised on the Penhallow Hotel prosecution, and gave evidence to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry. He is listed on the UK Register of Expert Witnesses.
