The Institut Technologique FCBA — forestry, pulp, timber construction and furniture — is approved by the Ministry of the Interior for reaction to fire testing and holds COFRAC accreditation to NF EN ISO/IEC 17025 for the Euroclasses. Its fire work covers the two things a timber or furniture specification actually needs: reaction to fire classification of materials, including flame spread and the durability of a classification over time, and the fire behaviour of upholstered seating for public-sector premises. It is also notified under the Construction Products Regulation for System 3 laboratory testing of windows and curtain wall façades. Its COFRAC scope is explicit about what it does not cover — the French M classification, smouldering fire and durability of reaction to fire are outside it — which is worth checking against before commissioning. A centre technique industriel with around 350 specialists and 25,000 m² of laboratories across seven sites.
