The Institut für Brandschutztechnik und Sicherheitsforschung at Linz, Austria’s fire protection testing house and an accredited testing, inspection and certification body to EN ISO/IEC 17020, 17025 and 17065, operating as a notified body. It runs fire experiments for material testing and product investigation, inspections and appraisals, and reconstruction tests for fire cause investigation — the last of which is unusual to find inside an accredited product laboratory and makes it the natural place for an Austrian forensic fire question as well as a conformity one. Not to be confused with IBS – Technisches Büro, an unrelated Austrian consultancy listed under fire engineering.
