The Materialprüfungsanstalt of the Universität Stuttgart runs a dedicated fire protection department as an accredited fire testing laboratory, covering the fire behaviour of building materials and the fire resistance of building components together with the research and development work behind them. It is accredited as a testing laboratory to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and as a product certification body to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065, is listed with the European Commission as notified body 0672 under Article 39 of the Construction Products Regulation, and is a recognised PÜZ body under the state building codes (BWU03). University-owned; testing is sold on the open market.
