The SGS group’s North American fire and flammability laboratory, trading as SGS Govmark from Farmingdale, New York. It is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 and recognised by US code agencies and state authorities as well as the Federal Aviation Administration, the Federal Railroad Administration and under the International Maritime Organization regime; a US Coast Guard approval was added in 2023 and the ISO/IEC 17025 fire scope extended again in 2024. The work spans reaction to fire and flammability — how a material behaves when exposed to flame or radiant heat — and the fire resistance of products and systems. SGS runs fire testing service lines in several other countries; only the laboratory whose address and scope are published is listed here.
